The Fall is the perfect time to renovate your pool. Most communities renovate their pool to for aesthetic reasons or to add new features and upgrades. It’s also important to make sure your community pool stays in compliance with local and federal codes and regulations. It’s been 10 years since the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act passed Congress, and nearly 9 years since it became mandatory for all commercial pools to comply. Most communities changed their main drain grates initially, but many did not take the additional steps to become fully compliant. With the original VGB grates expiring, now is a good time to re-evaluate your community pool and bring it up to code to protect your residents’ safety and the association’s liability.
The good news is becoming totally compliant is relatively inexpensive when done in conjunction with a pool renovation. To determine if your pool is compliant, the APSP has drafted this helpful flyer. As an APSP member, Sears Pool Management Consultants stands ready to assist any customer in becoming compliant as well as improving the aesthetic and functional appeal of their community swimming pool.
